India Building (1931) between Water and Brunswick StreetsIndia Building was built for the Blue Funnel Line between the two world wars. It was completed in 1931 and was heavily damaged in the 1941 blitz. The architects were a local man, Herbert Rowse, who also designed the six tunnel ventilation stations and Arnold Thornley.

The massive building occupies a whole block just east of the Pier Head between Water Street and Brunswick Street.
