The North Western Hotel in Lime Street [Photo: Ron P Smith]The hotel was built in 1871 to the design of Alfred Waterhouse originally with 330 rooms.

The designer also designed the Prudential Building in Dale Street and is known nationally for his design of the Natural History Museum in London.

The building which is sitiated next to Lime Street Station was empty for a number of years before being converted into student accommodation for the John Moores University.
