In 1656, a mission house, fort and chapel were established on the site of what is now downtown Liverpool. The Village of Liverpool was officially named in 1797. It had previously been name "Little Ireland" and most of the inhabitants were Irish. The city was incorporated in 1830. The photo on the left was taken at dowtown Liverpool and not far from the lake.
