This station was formerly named St. Helens Shaw Street and is situated between Thatto Heath and Garswood on what is now known as Merseyrail's "City Line" on the leg to Wigan.
The photo on the right taken on the 13th of February 2009, shows a train on the eastbound platform of the station in it's "St. Helens Central" form.
