Moorfields station was opened on the 2nd of May, 1977 and is on the Merseyrail "Wirral Line" loop in central Liverpool as well as the "Northern Line". On the loop, trains run clockwise only departing Moorfields for Lime Street and then Central station before returning to James Street and then crossing under the River Mersey.
