Gateacre Station was on the Cheshire Lines Railway system prior to the formation of British Rail. The station opened on the 1st of December 1879 and closed on the 17th of April 1972 but the tracks were not lifted until 1979. This view shown here is looking eastward from the station and shows the bridge over Belle Vale Road which still exists today.
