Aintree station is now located on a branch of the Merseyrail system's "Northern Line". The station is between Orrell Park and Old Roan and is serviced by trains operating between Liverpool and Ormskirk. It is also situated close to the entrance to the Aintree Racecourse which is famous for the annual "Grand National" horse race.
