Woolton VillageWoolton had a long history before it became part of the City of Liverpool in 1913. It is now part of Liverpool 25 and lies south-east of the city centre.

A charter of Henry III's of 1280 recorded that the "prior of the Knights Hospitallers" claimed the right of gallows in Woolton.

Peter Newby, who has been described as one of the cleverest men in the North of England was a poet, moralist and schoolmaster at Woolton Catholic School from 1766 to 1773.
