Wavertree is east of the city centre.

Wavertree Recreation Ground was once the location for the annual Liverpool Show. The ground is also known as "The Mystery" because it was donated anonymously. It opened to the public in 1895 with a fireworks show and other attractions.

George Harrison, the youngest member of The Beatles was born at 12 Arnold Grove, Wavertree in 1943. 17 High Street, Wavertree was once the home of the celebrated poetess Mrs Hemans.
