Nowadays, Everton is considered a part of central liverpool and is just north of the city centre within Liverpool 4.

Everton remained a rural village until the 1830s and enjoyed a few decades as a propsperous suburb before the great influx of Irish emigrants changed the social aspect of the area.

In 1879 the St. Domingo Football Club changed their name to Everton Football Club, making Everton one of the best known suburbs of Liverpool.
